Intelligence Validation

So Wednesday night I was working on my scene design ground plot assignment. Jonathan and Sabrina would switch between watching TV with me(Yes I do my homework in front of the TV. It keeps me with my kids), playing in their room and telling Tim all about their day. So anyway Sabrina came out and sat right next to me. She would look at my drawing, watch me measure then look at me. After doing this 4 or 5 times she looks at me and we have the following conversation....

Sabrina: Mommy?
Me : Yes sweetheart?
(I look at her, she smiles and just looks at me for a few seconds.)
Sabrina: You're really smart mommy. Do you think I can be as smart as you?
Me: (After I got over the shock) Of course you can Sabrina. In fact you will probably be even smarter than mommy one day.
Sabrina: Nobody's smarter that you mommy. I glad you go to school like me. I love you.
After that she gave me a hug, a kiss and ran off to play.

Since Jonathan started school this year I started thinking about all the homework I will help him with in the next 13 years. Of course like most parents I started thinking "will I be able to remember everything and know how to help him or will I let him down?" Well I don't know about the future but at least my children think I'm smart now and want to learn from me.

what better Validation of her intelligence does a mother need?

Parent/Teacher Conference

Today I had my first ever parent/teacher conference for Jonathan. I have never had a prouder moment. Jonathan is scoring high marks in everything they are working on. I have to admit I was a little nervouse about his "hyperness" and how that would affect him. He sits and listens. He is the first one done with his assignments and he does them great. He is already starting to write words and trying to get sentences. I was really proud of the fact that he dosen't interrupt, he respects his peers and their property and he asks for help when he needs it right away. Those are the three things we have been working with the kids on and it makes me so proud to know he does it when he is away from home and not just here.

As any mother would I got really proud when his teacher said he is one of the students she looks forward to having in her class every day. She said everyday he comes in with a big smile and says "Good morning, teacher. I'm here". Then his smile never leaves. He has it all throughout the day.

I have to say: I really lucked out with my children are so very proud of them.

Well. More news later!

What we do at Mom's!!!

What is new?

So I figured since it's been awhile I thought I would update you all. I started a new semester this fall in the theatre department and am loving it. I decided that this semester there would be no plays for me. And the best part is that I am living up to this decision. Those of you who really know me know how hard that is. I am taking directing, scene design, Survey of Dance and Anthropology: Science, Magic and Religion. Woo Wee a busy semester but it is going excellent. I am working full time and selling Mary Kay as well. I love it. I finally found something that takes off the stage make-up without drying out my skin. Woo Hoo!!!!
Tim is great. He and the kids have lots of fun while they are here. They laugh and play and cuddle. They have really gotten close to him. It's so cute to hear Jonathan and Sabrina tell him they love him. Sabrina tells me every night that Tim keeps us safe while we sleep. It's good that they know how much he cares for and loves them.
I love my family and am so excited to celebrate our one year anniversary in November. It's hard to believe it's been that long already. I am so happy. Love you all and I'll try to write more often.

Silly Girl

Sabrina's 4th Birthday Party

Sabrina's 4th Birthday

Sabrina turned 4 on September 21st. She got to celebrate it with her friend Luna, Kira, and Sidney. She asked for three things this year. She wanted, Dora, Barbies, and Mermaids. Well I couldn't let her down so she has a Dora b-day cake made by MOM (her specifications) that was strawberry with white icing and sprinkles. She also got a her mermaid from mommmy and a mermaid barbie from Grandma! She also got to choose her dinner: Steak and Aunt Linda's Great Potatoes!!! All in all she had a great day! (Jonathan even made her bed for her)
